Both Kentucky and Indiana can lay claim to popular children's book author Annie Fellows Johnston. She was born in Evansville, Indiana and eventually moved to Pewee Valley, Kentucky in 1898. In all Johnston wrote thirty-eight books, the most popular was a series of eleven novels based on her character The Little Colonel.
