Mike Fink is a colorful American folk character. He navigated a keelboat up and down the Ohio river in the early 1800s. Keelboats were long flat barges, and were used to haul freight until they were replaced by steamboats. Fink was known for his bravery, and for ten he would "shoot the falls," a very dangerous task, to go over the Ohio river falls in a keelboat!
