Rough and rugged Kit Carson was a famous American frontiersman. This man became well known for his skills as a hunter, guide and soldier. Carson was born in Million, Kentucky in 1809. But, within four years his family moved west to Missouri. Carson became a national hero when he crawled through Mexican lines and walked barefoot 30 miles to obtain aid for stranded American troops during our war with Mexico.
